History
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community.
Mission Statement
The Santa Ana College Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers shall exist to:
- Educate and develop the community through academic excellence and community involvement
- Increase the number of professional Hispanics through recruitment and retention, as well as being nationally recognized as an outstanding region
- Provide members with various services and opportunities encouraging leadership, outreach, culture, professional development, and academic development
